With more and more affiliates joining the platform every year, it can be difficult to separate the good from the bad unless you really know what you’re looking for.
This is why we’ve decided to pull together a little checklist so that you can be more careful when it comes to selecting affiliates to send samples to.
Check Their Profile
Sounds like an obvious one, right? But you’d be surprised! Taking just two seconds out of your day to really vet the person you’re about to send a sample over to can really make a difference.
Are they posting frequently? Are they active? Have they got a mixture of videos or do they all look pretty similar? Are they bad-quality videos with low views? Make sure you’re listening to the way they present a product – some affiliates can be more enthusiastic than others!
Communication
This is a huge green flag – if you have great communication with the affiliate from the get-go, then you’re well on your way to a long-lasting relationship with them. This can be handy if you want to bring incentives into the mix or update them with any TikTok Shop news.
Their monthly GMV is increasing every month
Every month, TikTok will refresh an affiliate’s GMV so we can build up an accurate picture of how much revenue they’re really bringing in.
Sometimes you’ll find smaller influencers grow their revenue over time – this is a huge green flag, and these influencers should be snapped up as quickly as possible for opportunities. They know what they’re doing, and they know what works!
Red Flag – Watch Out For This One!
Be careful, as there are some affiliates out there who are literally just looking for freebies (especially around Christmas time) – they won’t actually use the product and will actively claim that they will be gifting it to someone else. This is why it is important to really look into the affiliates you are working with and how they have posted about other products on their page.
Work with an Agency
If you don’t have the time to build your affiliate pool from scratch, why not work with a TikTok Shop agency that can take the stress off your shoulders and provide a quality list of affiliates?
